How to use specialist customs procedures to predict, manage and reduce import duty and VAT costs.  A must for those who do not like wasting money and giving un-necessary advantage to their competitors!

This in-depth customs training course is designed for those who wish to understand the processes and options available to businesses to manage the amount of import duty and VAT to be paid and includes the significant changes that came into force from 1st May 2016 and the impact of Brexit.   

This practical course will cover the methods for calculating and thereby predicting import duty including tariff classification, Binding Tariff rulings and valuation.   Options for import duty reduction such as Returned Goods Relief (RGR) which also used to be known as British Returned Goods Relief (BRG), origin (non-preference and preference) and the Generalised System of Preferences (GSP) and its UK successor will be explained with examples

Inward Processing relief (IP), Outward Processing relief (OPR), End-Use, Temporary Admission / Import (TA), Customs warehousing (Bonded Warehousing), Transit and Free Zones will be discussed along with the new benefits which will only be available to those companies already certified as AEO (C ) or able to prove that they are operating to AEO (C) standards without yet being certified. 

These new HMRC procedures are called:

Processing          (IP, OPR and PCC)

Specific Use        (Temporary Admission/import and End-Use - known as Authorised Use in UK)

Transit                  (External and internal transit)

Storage                (Customs warehousing and free zones)
 

Attendees will gain the information required to allow them to understand how customs import duty and VAT is calculated and the options available to reduce these costs.   Attendees will also be able to understand the implications, benefits and issues generated by import duty management within the supply chain.
