Our Certificate of Customs Competency course is Accredited by the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) and includes one year's e-membership of the Institute. The CILT will issue the Certificate at the end of the course. See our news page for details of free funding.
The programme is taught by an experienced industry professional from a pragmatic and practical view point and is designed to meet the requirements of the EU Customs Competency Framework for the Private Sector. It aims to give delegates the knowledge and tools needed to fulfil a commercial customs role in any international supply chain efficiently and effectively, making full use of the available customs processes and procedures to obtain the best outcomes for their organisation and customers.
Uniquely the emphasis is placed on understanding requirements and options, being able to assess whether or not they apply to a given situation and what benefits and drawbacks the use of the different options will produce.
This allows delegates to use their knowledge in any environment or business sector and in conjunction with any computer system used by their organisation or customers.
This exciting new course sets the standard for professional competence in commercial operational customs compliance. This is important as under the new Union Customs Code (UCC) a company’s access to customs simplifications, priority treatment and reduced cost will be based on external risk assessment.
Successful delegates will be able to prove to employers that they have the essential knowledge and skills needed to work in this field without placing their organisations at risk.
Companies having achieved or seeking to achieve AEO(C) or AEO(F) status will be able to demonstrate that their employees engaged in customs work have the level of knowledge expected by the Standard.
This vocational course is designed with business in mind, covering the full range of essential customs knowledge in a concise and targeted manner, keeping time away from the workplace to a minimum.
Delegates are assessed on their knowledge and their ability to apply that knowledge in business situations rather than on their capability to write lengthy essays or memorise legislation.

Currently the programme is offered as public sessions in London and Manchester, other locations may become available so if you would like to take the Certificate course elsewhere please do get in touch.
It can also be provided as cost effective in-house training on different dates, in different locations depending on delegate numbers (Prices on application).
To allow flexibility for business need, delegates may choose to attend days from a mix of the public sessions (prior notice is required) but it is recommended that where possible delegates attend the courses in the order shown and in a single session. Where delegates mix courses from different session all courses should be booked at the same time. All courses need to be completed within 12 months. If a delegate has already completed any of the required sessions as a one day course within the previous 12 months the same course does not need to be completed again unless there has been a significant change to the topic.
